Getting ready to head off (Ricoh FF3 Super AF)
Gathering provisions at Nottingham. (Ricoh FF3 Super AF)
1) Can't resist a good powerline shot opportunity, even when afloat navigating the tidal Trent. 2) Still standing. Cottam Power Station (Ricoh FF3 Supeer AF)
1) Another view across Brayford Pool. 2) East Holmes Signal box, opened in 1873 by the Great Northern Railway. It's now a grade 2 listed building. 3) Enthusiasm for the railways isn't what it was, it seems. A free-to-all bookcase, outside the signal box for anyone interestered in the railways, now nothing more than a tattered relic. (Bronica ETRSi)
While out and about with family near Lincoln. 1) Seen on the way into the Stourton Estate Artisan Market. (Samsung S10, edited later). 2) Unusual tree seen on our wander around Wisby Nature Reserve (Ricoh FF3 Super AF)
1) Weed clearing - an essential and never ending task. 2) Refuelling at Burton Waters marina. 3)Quiet reflection, moored by the Muskham Ferry Inn. 4) Luch stop at Saxilby. 5 & 6) Two more from Torksey Lock 7) Barricaded abstraction at Hazelford Lock. 8) Finished for the day at Stoke Lock. 9) Heading into Weston Lock. Just in time before the rain. Moored up near Sawley for lunch. (Ricoh FF3 Super AF)

Ode to Rolt’s Renaissance
**************************************
Slow of pace
Yet days so long,
The effort arduous...
*
Proud people of The Cut,
Of romantic rose
And mystical castle,
A way of life,
All their own.
*
But, time passed
And the world changed
All too fast,
The boats and their people
Left behind.
*
Almost lost forever,
Saved in wistful, timely word,
Through Tom’s longing,
His thoughts made manifest
For all to see.
*
Cressy the primordial vessel,
Her pioneering travels,
The seeds of a bygone glory
Burgeoning,
Re-imagined.

As we near the end, here’s a splash of colour for you.
Probably the single most impressive aspect of our visit to the Stourton Estate was this astonishing field of sunflowers a short walk from the market.. There were so many it all felt a little surreal ( note the obliging bee on the single flower). [Samsung S10 phone]
At this point I’ll let Percy have the last word…
Thanks for joining me for this second look along ‘the cut’. There will be a final, shorter instalment soon, a small suplementary gallery of colour images. See you soon.

I enjoyed this walk of thoughts and wonder Ralph. Though have to offer standouts for trees, steps and handrails.
Cheers!
Wonderful stuff, Ralph, I was especially taken with ‘Gathering Provisions at Nottingham’, the light in that one is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
