Here are a few more photos from our trip on the Cut from Burton-on-Trent to Lincoln and back, all in colour but, in no chronological order. I hope you enjoy them.
(I’m afraid this post may be too long for some emails. If so, you can view it in your browser.)
Beautiful bundles of cotton wool at Shardlow
Moored at Hazelford Lock.
One of the many perilous ‘weed islands’ we encountered along the way. This particular one stopped Hyperion in her tracks, so to speak. No amount of fury from the engine would free her up without a fair bit of manual heave-ho with a boat hook. You may notice someone on a paddle board coming under the bridge. The lady ‘on board’ was probably older than me, yet kept up with us for a mind bogglingly long time. I would be jumping for joy if I had half her strength and fitness. She was incredible.
1) Locking through. 2) Watering up at Gunthorpe Lock. 3) Just below Dallow Lock.
These are great Ralph, some lovely memories. Irene is very creative and you’re not so bad yourself with that ‘cheesing the rope’. I admit I had to look that one up as I had visions of you soaking it with fermented milk!!😂
Another great selection Ralph, I particularly liked the big sky shots, thanks for sharing.
