Sunrise

Greeting the Solstice Sun.

Well, I managed to drag my reluctant bones out of bed shortly after my 3am alarm call after all. I gathered together what I needed, then headed off up the path. I was so glad I did. Although a little on the cool side, it was lovely. My first wildlife encounter was a fox as he quietly slunk into the undergrowth a little way up the track.. Further on I glimpsed two deer darting across the track and heard a couple more moving around but hidden in the undergrowth. It was that liminal time, when the birds were already welcoming the coming light with their sweet song, yet so many bats were still busily flitting about. It all seemed slightly surreal. I found my preferred spot up near the quarry and stood, waiting. I could see out over the north eastern vista under an almost cloudless sky and waited. It was glorious.
