It's sometimes surprising where your enthusiasm for music and, maybe, one band in particular, can take you. My wife has had an almost lifelong admiration for Duran Duran. Her ardent passion for attending their gigs took us somewhere we wouldn't normally have thought about visiting. Early 2019 and the Band were kicking off their tour season with a gig date at the Filmore in New Orleans, and what turned out to be the venue's inaugural show. It was a great night out.
While were there and not wishing to miss opportunities whilst in the area, we decided to take a boat trip (or two) with the Honey Island Eco Boat Tours on the Pearl River, based near where we were staying in the town of the same name, about 40m miles east of Nola. Honey Island Swamp originally got it’s name from the abundance of honey bees that lived there. This area is considered one of the most pristine swampland habitats in the United States (Wikipedia).

Our tour guide mentioned at the outset that sightings of alligators would be potentially a little hit and miss, as they don't deliberately bait the waters, preferring to let Nature take her course (the main reason we chose this particular company). We were, nonetheless, fortunate in gaining two or three good views of these toothy residents. Our luck didn't stop there. We also spotted snakes, turtles, birds of prey and herons.

All in all, very enjoyable experiences, rounded off by paying a visit (on the tour guide's recommendation) to Cajun Mike's, a local restaurant that specialised in local cuisine.
Reading and subscribing to “Faffy’s Fotos” is free, but if you would like to make a donation to Ancient and Sacred Trees Community it would be very much appreciated. Each gift helps plant a tree. Thank you.
Love the old bus under the tree, very moody indeed. We'll worth enduring Duran Duran for. 🤣📷
Awesome photos! Love the gators! And the eagles! Thanks!
