Bestival
Isle of Wight, 2015
Continuing, briefly on the theme of music festivals, the summer of 2015 presented another opportunity for us to see my wife Irene’s fave band in action. This was particularly special as the Isle of Wight was where we both lived the first half of our lives. It still has a special place in our hearts despite how it’s changed over the years.
Getting tickets for the Friday night headliners was a no-brainer - it had to be done. This post is a little picture heavy, but I hope you enjoy the selection.

Luckily the weather was beautiful that weekend.

Back up the hill for day two and the Friday night headliners - yes, you’ve guessed it - Duran Duran. Somehow we ended up at the front next to the barrier. I had wondered if taking my dslr with my telezoom attached would be risky being right ‘in the thick of it’. Also, people photography (especially those who I don’t know and who don’t know me) is normally well outside my comfort zone, but I needn’t have worried. Folks were so relaxed and accomodating and I susspect the guys in the band are used to it after so many years. Despite not being a DD fan as such (though I do like their music), I’ve seen them live more times than any other musical act simply by virtue of supporting Irene over the years. All good fun, anyway.

A good couple of days by any measure. It’s funny how one’s perception of time changes as we get older. It’s hard to believe this was nearly ten years ago..

Wow - I can imagine Irene was in her element in the front row...and what a position for photos, these are great Ralph. It looks like you had a fabulous weekend weatherwise - I love the quirkiness of festivals and wouldn't say no to having one of those cocktail cars in my garden! What wonderful memories you've created!
Great shots, Ralph!
